Ducati Monster 795 India bound; Global launch in under 2 weeks!

Ducati Monster 795

God bless Free Trade Agreements. India and Thailand, incidentally have a free trade agreement which allows export of many goods between the two countries at lower duty rates. For us automobile enthusiasts, it means cheaper automobiles. For instance, many of the engine parts of the superbly priced Honda CBR250R arrive into India from Thailand and in the coming months, many of the Honda Brio’s parts will be exported to Thailand.

So, there indeed has been an increase in bilateral trade between the two countries. Coming straight to the point, this Indo-Thai FTA will result in cheaper Ducatis. Iconic Italian motorcycle maker Ducati will woo the moneyed Indian motorcycling enthusiast with a LoCo Ducati Monster 795, which will be assembled at the Italian motorcycle maker’s Thailand plant. This said, the Monster 795 will still use top spec Ducati quality parts that the Italian firm will source from all across the world.

Basically, the motorcycle which will arrive into India will be in a lower state of tune than the current Monster 796, and along with that will cost significantly lower than the Ducati Minster 796, which retails for around INR 8 Lakh currently. So, a price of about 6 Lakh Rupees for the Ducati Monster 795 looks very alluring indeed considering the tremendous heritage and lineage Brand Ducati is known for. Currently, the Monster 796 featuring an L-Twin air cooled motor produces 87 Bhp.

The new Ducati’s engine might be detuned for a lower power output to position it as an entry level Ducati for the South East Asian markets that includes India too, where Ducati offers almost all of its global models. The branding and the sheer aura of the Ducati brand aside, performance enthusiasts might still want to stick to motorcycles like the Kawasaki Ninja 650R or the Hyosung 650R as maintaining a Ducati is quite expensive compared to other Japanese motorcycle brands. All said, watch out for the MotoGP weekend on October 20-21st when the Ducati Monster 795 will be launched at Sepang, Malaysia.
